We are looking again for a new Director to take over from Paul Boucher
Here is our advert- we would be keen to speak to anyone interested in the role
Director for Lincolnshire Traveller Initiative
(Part-time, 24 hrs at circa £40,000 pro rata)
What is Lincolnshire Traveller Initiative?
Lincolnshire Traveller Initiative (LTI) is a Waddington based charity supporting Traveller
communities throughout Lincolnshire.
What are the aims of the charity?
LTI promotes employment and personal development opportunities to members of Traveller
communities in Lincolnshire, thus reducing any isolation families may feel due to their location,
lifestyle, or discrimination by the wider community.
How do we do this?
LTI encourages Travellers to try new educational, employment and recreational experiences
and this often results in new work opportunities.
LTI also promotes preventative health measures and has introduced a range of health
services to the Traveller communities
We develop partnerships and connections between Travellers and public agencies, local
businesses, charities, educational establishments, and a wide range of other service
providers. Ultimately, this empowers individual Travellers and builds confidence among the
families that use our services.
We visit a wide range of Traveller sites across Lincolnshire in our unique “teaching bus” to
facilitate delivery of all our services; enabling us to work with Travellers in their home
environment.
We offer our young people the opportunity to study English, Maths and ICT functional skills, Arts
Awards and a wide range of Prince’s Trust qualifications. The bus is also used to provide
educational and recreational trips for all ages.
LTI provides health education to Travellers to help improve their uptake of preventative health care
services (immunisation, screening, smoking cessation etc). In partnership with the NHS, we facilitate
access to Traveller communities for teams of health professionals and this in turn promotes
awareness of the available health services.
LTI provides lifelong learning to everyone in the Traveller communities of Lincolnshire by delivering
an extensive range of courses from different providers which enhances opportunities for
employment.
Current status of LTI
Travellers are in a majority on the LTI Board, which has a clear vision of the developments needed to
achieve the outcomes that Traveller communities want and need. LTI is promoting greater
autonomy for the Travellers, and they are increasingly taking responsibility for the control and
direction of the development of the charity.
Currently, LTI is in a buoyant financial position with secure grant funding in place for the mediumterm future (3 – 5 years). We are working towards a more financially sustainable future moving away
from a heavy reliance on grant funding into a mix of grants, contracted work and social return
investment.
